| Douglas Brown, Edinburgh | Many thanks to Huw for being such a great guitarist. He is the icing on the Hawkwind cake. keep up the good work. |
| Stephen Reed | hi Huw and Marion, not seen you since stage door scarborough, i remember saying to people in the levitation era, "wow this young guy Huw has brought the wind into another stage of their sound, more rocky etc etc merging with the cosmic thing", never tire hearing you mate |
| Tim Slater, Deputy Editor, Guitar Buyer Magazine, England | Hi True Believers! I'll never forget the first time that I heard Huw's playing on 'Utopia' from the 'Choose Your Masques' album. I was absolutely stunned by the combination of melody, technical skill and pure drama that made most other rock guitarists sound positively dull by comparison and I became a committed fan of Huw and Hawkwind from then on. Huw is a genuine one-off; a true original with a soul-stirring playing style that he forged from his blues roots to create something truly beautiful and unique. Huw's playing always makes you want to pick up a guitar and join in and it is a constant mystery to me why he remains such an under-rated player when he is just so damn good. |
| Michael (from Australia) | I first discovered Huw's beautifully sensational guitar playing when a friend played the Levitation album for me back in 1989. I cannot find words to describe how thrilled I was by this album but then a year or so later I ordered the Xenon Codex and was hooked. The way I see it Huw has everything in his music - soul/spirit - emotion - speed - quality - technique which is balanced by such warm feeling. Huw's vocals have always been a favourite for me especially where Hawkwind's music is concerned. When someone asks me who inspired me to want to play guitar there are two I have to mention. Jimi Hendrix sparked my interest in guitars and Huw Lloyd Langton, who inspired me to really want to play well and continually work towards being as good as I possibly can and more. I attribute a great deal of inspiration to Huw in my own musical endeavours... Your fan eternally. Michael, (http://www.alien-dream.com/) |
| Alisa (from Moscow) | I wanted to tell how much I was affected by Huw Lloyd-Langton. I have a band Space Mirrors (http://www.spacemirrors.com) and in interviews I told that it was Huw's guitar playing that got me seriously into music after I got my first Hawkwind cd - "Live Chronicles". It was such amazing, I listened more and more to his gentle leads and solos. This is how I got into Hawkwind, Space Rock and all such kind of music. I was listening to Live Chronicles, Huw's guitar and at that time I decided that I want to create a music group someday. And so I did. So a big "thank you" to Huw Lloyd-Langton. I think many people underestimate Huw's part in success and popularity of Hawkwind! |
| Paul Baker | I am a great fan, think Huw is the best guitarist around. I play
lead myself and he is my biggest influence. I have seen Huw only 3 times: once
in Hawkwind 2001 tour Royal Court Liverpool, once with Nik Turner at Stairways
Birkenhead, and the last time was supporting Hawkwind Manchester Ritz 2004. My
dad has been into you for years, with Hawkwind he has raved about you always
says you are the best there is, and I have basically grown up listening to your
playing. I have listened to loads of greats Hendrix Clapton etc.. but I have
chosen your style of playing as for me it beats them all. I'm 24 now, been in
bands since I was 14, and played a lot of gigs, but would love to play
alongside yourself one day, that would be the ultimate experience for me.(Our
present band are called The Fahrenheits) I wish you were still playing with Hawkwind, the last tour in Spring 2004, we went along expecting you to be in the line up, after reading on net that you were.We all went away disappointed that you only supported the band. Though we thought your spot was great, we thought Hawkwind were crying out for you to be up there with them. Hawkwind without you are not the same. My dad says it was the same 89 when he went to see them and found you were no longer with them. |
| Craig | Please say hi to Huw for me. He's the reason I kept on playing whenever I found myself stuck in a rut trying to learn guitar when I was a kid! I'm Craig Gregory, 31 now and been playing for 18 years. Try http://musicbuilder.net/music/bands/1365 to have a gander! Hope you are all well. Loved the site too, well done! Craig |
| Dan | Hi Marion , just wanted to say thanks for the CDs, Night Air is always a favourite of mine and Chain Reaction is now too. Always a pleasure to hear Huw`s songs which have given me strength and inspiration to carry on over the years as a bassist . Many, many thanks! |
