Was just going through my record collection and thought I would find out how things are round and about on the net. Discovered Huw LL has gone - on youtube!
Always will remember Huw LL outside Bristol Colston Hall red and white stripped top Hawkwind Chronicles tour. His solo guitar sessions unmistakable sound defintive vocals and part of Hawkwind legend, big part of my formative teens and will be sadly missed.

You have got incredible stuff at this point.

I first met Huw in 1983 when I saw him play one night in a pub I now cant remember! - he had a white Gibson guitar and his first song was 'waiting for tomorrow' and his music blew me away. Huw inspired me to play guitars. He was a fantastic musician. He was such a genuine nice guy and we often had a Gold Label together in the years that followed. I am going to miss Huw and his music so much.........

Gutted that we'll never be able to talk to each other again, but your voice will always be in our home, as will your pictures.

personnal tribute to your partnership together.

The first I ever heard of Huw was on Hawkwind's choose your masques tour,me Gill and a couple of friends went to the hammersmith Odeon tripping of cours,as hawkwind have allways made an effort to captivate visually as well as their innovative style of music.I had lost track of hawkwind between warriors of the edge of time and choose your masques therefore not heard of huw rejoining during that period.

But that night at that concert I had what they call a life changing moment musicaly.Till then i had a few favorite guitarists whom I would not tire listening to.When huw's gut renching,émotionnaly charged,soul oppening, melodic licks pierced through that night, i was hooked.

I imediateley splashed out all huw back catalogue of music available,feeding a musical need at the time.Little did I know that fate would have it that we would be friends one day.

Meanwhile huw's style of playing started to creep into my own developing style,not that anybody would notice as there were other influances allready there.

To me huw 's guitaring was unique and have not been impressed by anybody since .I had reached my musical Mecca.

Our first contact:Back in 84 I was rehearsing in a new rehaersal place called Accorn studios with a band a the time called savage cabbage ,the owner informed me that Huw Lloyd langton rehearses here with the Lloyd langton group I was dumbfounded it was like an elvis fan going to gracelands

best off all he gives guitare lessons,I could not containe my joy.A few mumbling with nerves phone calls and my fisrt guitare lesson was booked.

I turned up at his home in W2 on my motorbike guitare on back trembling like an *** I was about to meet God.

I was greeted by a down to earth,gentle,warm person with a perminent cheeky smile.

He proceeded to teach me 4 blues scales it was going in one ear and out the other,I was pinching myself ,was I really here with this bloke who played the melodies i was allways searching for.At the same time I met Marion and that's where I saw devotion in its biggest forme a perfect match Marion did everything for Huw she saw his musical gift and braved the biggest obsticals to get huw heard .You took the pressure of him so he could play to his full potencial and share that magique with the reste of us. You were his rock through thick and thin in sickness and in health.During the nineties we kept in touche and will remember with great fondness comming back from the reading festival with kirsty asleep in the back of my old combi camper,stoping to help alan davy

brocken down with a vauxhall chevette if memorie serves me right.Then in 2001 we moved to France, after settling you had the same French dream and I tried to find you somme property 's bargains with potencial,unfortunately french adminstration put stop to all

propositions.I was gutted maybe for selfiche musical reasons but mainly on a personnal level that I failed to make something good happen for people that I hold dearly.And even now i think if things would have gone smoothly with you here would huw have benifited from better dianogstique and treatment .these are questions that I dont know the answers.On your last visite our son Aston was privilidged to have had a jam with huw and I know in years to comme he will remember what a privilege it was.

Huw's tunes and cheeky smile,generosity, humour,will stay with me forever.


I hope our next meeting will be not too far in the futur and we are thinking of you.

I don't normally write things like this, but I had to in this case. I've seen hawkwind so many times and always hoped that Huw would be playing with them. In most cases when I saw them, he was. He was an incredibly gifted musician with a totally original style. I saw him once in the llg band, where he broke a string toward the end of the gig, but continued to play despite this. He was so talented that the missing string didn't affect his playing. I was amazed. I met him in the student bar of the uea, norwich, when my mates persuaded me to hand him one of our band's tapes. I was really nervous; he was a true hero of mine. But I always remember, he smiled at me, asked me about the music and slipped the tape into his top pocket. He put me totally at ease and made that night the best hawkwind gig ever. People live on in memories. And from what I've read here, Huw will live on in our memories as a kind and extremely talented musician, who also had a lot of time for people. I hope his family will take a great comfort from this, at their time of such great loss.

Another legend gone, but we will never forget!

The music lives on, what more perfect a gift can anyone leave?

I made the change from "pop" to "rock" in 1989 when I was 17, in 1989. I got right into Hawkwind and learned to play the guitar by jamming to Hawkwind albums, particularly Live Chronicles and Live at Reading. Huw's free soloing has hugley influenced me, and I love his style - really tasteful. I've seen Hawkwind quite a few times, although Huw has not been in the line-up for most of the gigs. One of the best was Edinburgh 2001, when he was was in the line-up, with Dave, Alan, Richard & Simon. What a gig. I was lucky enough to chat to Huw afterwards - really nice guy. As Deke Leonard said, they always take the good ones. RIP Huw, you certianly made your mark on me.

It's with sadness i hear of Huw's death. I first saw Huw with Dave etc on the Sonic Attack tour and i saw him probably another twenty or so times over the next few years. Fast forward to '89 and i bore an uncanny resemblence to Kenny, LLG's bass player at the time and this allowed me to stand at the bar shooting shit with Huw and associated - i remember us all crawling out of the Tunnel Club in Greenwich one time after a lock in and again being beaten by Huw at pool after a gig at the Shelly Arms. Always affable and approachable his playing has always had an influence on my playing i wish i'd taken the time to catch up with him over these later years....the wind of change is certainly upon us
