Huw Lloyd-Langton Has Been Busy – So latest News Here!

It has been very quiet from us since December 2011! But here is the latest news! Huw has been associated with Cleopatra Records now for the last couple of years. Huw first recorded “Classical Tales’ for them but has since embarked on a few more projects for them & Allegro Music. He may have been known as a jobbing musician for a long time apart from his long track record with Hawkwind. But that is so far from the truth! Huw is a musician with so many talents to his bow!!!!! He is a brilliant talented chameleon of an artist where it comes to writing and performing in both the rock world, blues and the classical acoustic worlds although he does not pretend to be a master in any of them. I think a few people out there might dispute that statement!

Hawkwind’s new album ‘Onwards’

Huw is appearing as a guest artist on the Track: ‘Seasons The Hills Have Ears” – great reviews for this whole album already out there!

Out soon on Cleopatra Records worldwide is a ‘Black Keys Tribute album’ recognizing the ‘Black Keys’ duo’s amazing music. The album is sprinkled with seasoned national & international artists and musicians: Huw appears on the: ‘Money Maker’. More info on full album tracklisting here soon soon!!

Also out soon again on Cleopatra Records worldwide is a ‘Who Tribute’ album with various other amazing seasoned national & international artists and musicians including ‘Ginger Baker’ from ‘Cream, who worked with Hawkwind in 1980/81 on the ‘Levitation’ album and toured with them: Huw is appearing on this ‘Who’ tribute album on the track ‘ Love Reign O’er Me’, with Dave Davis from ‘The ‘Kinks’ great vocals. Also in the can! Huw has finished recording an acoustic blues album for Cleopatra Records titled ‘Huw’s Blues’. He has covered many worldwide blues giants and has added a few of his self-penned tracks to this album. More info soon!

Last year Huw opened 'Nektar's' tour in USA August/September 2011 with his solo acoustic set. 'Brainticket' supported Nektar with their amazing set! The last date was at the "KeyClub" Los Angelos on 3rd September 2011 which was recorded professionaly for a DVD release including Huw's full solo set opening the show there. Clips of this are already on YouTube. Cleopatra Records are to release the full DVD with Nektar, Brain Ticket & Huw soon! Full details will be published here soon!

Two years ago in May 2010 Huw & LLG supported Hawkwind at the Leamington Spa gig on 5^th May amongst other great bands. Huw’s solo set and LLG’s was recorded at this gig and filmed. The end result is a fine double DVD ‘Huw & LLG Live At Assembly Halls. This is a limited edition purely for sale from our web site. The details to buy this double DVD will be published soon.

Due to their nature each and every live album is unique to the band and also the venue and audience. Many other factors play their part but I am sure that you get the gist of this.

This album by Huw and Lloyd Langton Group is truly one of a kind, recorded in a marquee privately hired to celebrate Huw’s friend Maria’s recovery from cancer, this gig was a very personal one for Huw & LLG and from what I have been told, was one of the most enjoyable and well organised gigs that Huw & LLG have ever done. This limited edition (200 copies) double CD captures the atmosphere of the entire gig by being recorded live direct from the desk. The sound quality is not studio quality but captures the audiences enthusiasm and LLG’s fantastic input.

As this gig has been recorded directly from the desk onto a double CD there are no gaps between the tracks. There is just one track on each disc. Disc one is about sixty minutes long and disc two is about forty nine minutes long. The fact that it not studio quality does not matter one little bit, the ambiance and atmosphere which is captured by this double disc is simply incredible. As you listen to this album you will find yourself transported directly into the audience. Live In Gravesend is an absolute gem of an album and I recommend it highly. Along with the Lloyd Langton tracks there are a couple of songs dedicated to Hawkwind and an absolutely brilliant cover of Smokestack Lightening, dedicated to Howlin’ Wolf.

FEW bands can boast the far-reaching appeal and influence of Hawkwind, uniting the support of the leather-clad rock fraternity with the crusty travelling hordes of Hippydom.

(and all those who stand some-where in between)

Huw's repertoire covers a variety of styles, ranging from the harder side of rock to the kind of spaced-out psychedelic guitar work he is probably best remembered for from his Hawkwind days.

His association with other well-known musicians reads more like a Who's Who Guide of popular music.
