Out of the ShadowsIn addition to the main LLG DVD below, note that you can enjoy Huw in full flight on various Hawkwind DVDs, notably Out of the Shadows (link to Amazon), filmed during the beginning of the 2001 winter tour. Huw is out front in the mix and also on top form throughout the very interesting set, including material from Tim Blake and Arthur Brown. Highly recommended as a video document of both Hawkwind and Huw's work with them.
Also well worth getting is The Chronicle of the Black Sword, from
the mid eighties, with lots of Huw-penned songs and good visuals throughout.

From your webmaster: I'm pleased to present the whole of Huw Lloyd-Langton's acclaimed concert at the Standard, in Walthamstow, 18th April 2002, on DVD.
The gig at the Standard was extra special, capturing Huw on fire and looking great (after recovering from Legionaire's disease during the Hawkwind winter tour, 2001, not to mention a broken hand!). The guitar skills are dazzling and the sounds are amazing - not a bum note in 110 minutes of music! Huw was joined by LLG regulars Kenny Wilson (bass), John Clark (drums) and Gonzalo Carrera (keyboards), plus High Tide's Tony Hill on guitar for the encore.
"Live at Walthamstow" features:

Screen-grabbed from the
DVD
Track list: Alien Jiggers / I could cry / Wars are the hobby there / Lonely Man / Outside the Law / Talk to you / Wind of change / Got your number / Rocky Paths / Waiting for tomorrow / Psychedelic Warlords / Hurry on Sundown
See the Multimedia page for a couple of DVD tracks/clips, at lower resolution than DVD, obviously, but it'll give you a good idea. Also, here's the whole of the first track, "Alien Jiggers", at around five minutes, alienjiggers.mp3, 4.7MB, to give you an idea of the superb audio quality throughout.

Photo: Arthur Dowdeswell. Thanks also to
Colin J Allen, for the filming and recording of the concert
Notes: this DVD was filmed and produced by fans for fans - although video quality is very good (and audio excellent), only one camera was used throughout - it's a great concert, but don't expect a big budget production! The DVD is not region coded, so can be played anywhere, as long as your TV/video system supports PAL (i.e. possibly not America?)
The DVD is priced at £15.00, including world-wide postage to your door (no hidden charges, no extras).

Jonathan Smith: "I am really enjoying watching it. The sound quality is good and the picture not bad. In fact, I enjoy this more than the slicker Hawkwind video as it's almost like being there in a small gig. You have done a great job."
Leo Furman: "I received the Huw DVD and CD from you today, and I just had to write and thank you profusely for the excellent music and tremendous service! What a find! I love the fact that the way the concert was filmed makes you feel like you're right there at the venue enjoying the show. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the difference between this and the "polished" concert DVDs that, many times, are technically great, but have no passion.... The song selection is great, too - I've cruised to "Night Air" and "Like an Arrow" more times than I can tell you, and those albums are well represented and played here... I was floored by how great the sound was on this, as well - my expectations were far exceeded.... On top of it all, I can't believe how fast you got all this to me - I've got orders I've made in the USA that were made before I ordered from you that still haven't arrived!! Once again, thank you very much, Steve, for the great service and music. This DVD is going to get worn out! "
Richard Crossley: "Well, I was at the gig and was stood about 5 feet behind the (single) camera for most of the evening and I can honestly say this recording is just as I remember the night... 'Twas one the best gigs I've seen Huw do with his band in the last 10 years or so, the DVD captures the evening exactly and the sound quality is A++. Can't recommend it highly enough. Delivery was excellent too, cheque went in the post Monday night, DVD on doormat Wednesday morning! Thanks to all involved!"
Arthur Dowdeswell: Thank you very much for sending the Huw DVD so quickly. I received it yesterday morning and have been playing it ever since. The sound is superb and the video pretty remarkable under the circumstances. Technically (video capture, sync, etc) you've done an incredible job. It's more life-like and far more in sync than any mainstream concert DVD I have.
