Huw and Richard (Bass player from LLG) have already raised £20k to cover costs of the Killing Cancer animation competition and the prizes in order that the Killing Cancer Charity do not use their valuable resources for their on-going work. We need to raised a further £2k so Huw has agreed to do a solo acoustic gig at the Banus Club in Weymouth on 2nd April 2010. Also top DJS from Dorset area have also added support and agreed to do the gig free. All proceeds go directly to Killing Cancer.

Huw health update (Christmas 2009):

From Marion: Huw's feeling a bit better and yesterday they told us his kidneys have gone from 6% working to 10% so he had a reprieve yesterday from dialysis. They will check again in 4 weeks. We are very pleased about that. Bad news is because of the type of anaemia Huw has, his kidneys are not producing whatever the body needs to keep red cells healthy so he has to have 3 self-injections a week for next year and fortnightly visits to doctor for bloods and blood pressure checking. But they said the treatment will make him feel like a new man and the terrible tiredness will disappear.

They are also monitoring an awful on-going e-coli bladder infection and again hoping for better results next time he's tested, otherwise it is a lifetime of antibiotics. All 3 problems are linked,
so being positive, if his kidneys slowly improve then everything else will.

The renal unit are very thorough and we now have along term care plan in place, so hopefully onwards and upwards. Huw has taken everything in his stride and says"Oh! Well! - and
because of Huw's attitude I am not worrying so much.

Also he has a little more movement in his middle finger so fracture clinic are pleased. Huw thinks at some point in future he may be able to finger pick again and not rely on plectrums. Hoorah!

Marion visited Cornwall College Cambourne recently, to look at work on the Killing Cancer animation competition, a couple of extra photos on the comp. page.

Jonathon Rudd and Marion

Marion is slowly getting round to visit all the universities/Colleges participating in the Killing Cancer Project.  She was at Edge Hill University this week with Richard Gillespie (bassist), shown below, with some of the participating students. A really nice bunch of people. "It was heartwarming to get their reaction to the
project. They have some great ideas for animation!"

PS. Huw is still very very fragile and terribly tired but OK! in his mental attitude.  If he is up to it 9th December he will do an acoustic set on Hawkwind's 1st tour date in Southampton. He is looking
forward to it so So God Willing he wll be up to it!

Huw health update(!): (Oct 2009)

"Huw is home but very fragile - it will take some time to get him back to
full health but thank God he has come through all of that and will continue
to do so. We are convinced all the love prayers and support from friends,
family and all the wonderful fans held him up actually us up. The many
goodwill messages bought tears to our eyes as Huw says "it was a very
humbling experience". We had no idea so many people thought so highly of
him.

To finish on a humorous note and to give you all a flavour of what a
stubborn, skinny, obstinate little man I am married to.  Preacher, friend &
Hawkfan Julian Melfi visited Huw in intensive care to read him "life rights"
not "last rites. I have to paint a picture here. Huw had a line into his
neck with 4 leads coming out, three lines into each arm, one into his groin,
a catheter and a needle in each hand. When Julian left Huw said to me "Can
you please stop telling people I'm ill".   (Urgh! yes Huw)!!!!!!!!  I always
listen to my husband."

Marion Lloyd Langton

Thanks to everyone for their prayers and good vibes over the last few weeks. Huw contracted food poisoning and then septicaemia, following which his kidneys collapsed. He has been in hospital and (Marion) "It is an absolute miracle he is alive and thank God for that!" Huw is out of intensive care and now in a Renal Unit – they still have not been able to get his kidneys working but are very hopeful they will.  He has had two lots of dialysis and blood transfusions and is in a remarkably good frame of mind – "bless him". Bit of a set back with his middle finger (right hand) which he broke during the night in his sleep before going into hospital.  He has had an operation as it was nastily infected. Now up in a sling – it was the last thing he needed really but he is still in good spirits.

Here's the good Baron Brock imitating Huw's somewhat enforced pose at his bedside:

Added date to the Diary page

Hawkwind's 40th Anniversary 2 days were great - how Kris got that all together is a wonder. Hawkwind were brilliant of course! All the celebrities who presented were also fantastic (personal thanks to Matthew Wright who gave a wonderful speech about artwork Huw had donated for the raffles).  And  we really enjoyed ourselves. Please thank all the fans who showed their appreciation to us personally.

Ed Houghton who is producing a Documentary on the great
"Steve Ellis" interviewed Huw and Steve re their "Widowmaker" days. It will be a great documentary covering Steve's life and work with many many artistes. When finalised broadcast details will be publicised on Steve's web site.  In the meantime, Steve has a
fantastic new album out "Best of Days" with guest appearances from Paul Weller & Roger Daltrey. Steve pictured here with Huw and Marion:

Added pages of Huw and Marion's lyrics for songs written through the years.

We're sad to announce the death of Tim Rice Williams. Tim was the producer of "River Run" at Mike's (Coombs) Kitchen Studio in Herts. He was a great musician, on keyboards and piano. Over the years Tim collaborated with Huw on many projects. But not just Huw - with many many musicians. He worked hard as a brilliant and dedicated musician for over 30 years. His last contributions on this earth were a few weeks ago on "Circus of Fools", Huw's new album, which will be dedicated to him. Tim was a very dear and much loved Friend. He leaves a big hole in our hearts but as Huw says, not just our hearts, he leaves a big hole in the World. He was a friend to many many people. He leaves Marsha, his lovely wife and two sons. May God give you wings Tim you deserve them.
